Five ways in which the climate crisis is worsening antimicrobial resistance
Two of the biggest issues facing humanity in the twenty-first century are antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and climate change, both of which have the potential to significantly impair human health and longevity. AMR is mostly caused by the overuse or abuse of medications to treat bacteria and fungus, and extreme weather events brought on by climate change are wreaking havoc on communities all over the world. These catastrophes are remarkably interconnected, despite their apparent disconnection.
